Mat's Explorer's Club
Keeping an eye on art ! Matt’s Explorers’ Club is a membership group for youth visiting the Arnot Art Museum. The club combines the Arnot Art Museum’s Education Department’s successful scavenger hunt of the galleries with a desire to return to explore new exhibits. Children who successfully complete a scavenger hunt receive a small prize after each visit. Upon completion of five (5) scavenger hunts during different exhibitions, the children receive their own Matt Pack, a stylish nylon backpack with the Arnot Art Museum logo. Each backpack includes: a set of crayons, markers, scissors, watercolor paints, glue, a drawing pad and colored pencils.
Named for Matthias H. Arnot, the benefactor whose bequest in 1910 of his home, property and art collection became the Arnot Art Museum, Matt’s Explorers’ Club is designed to enliven youngsters’ visits to the Museum by inviting them to explore the galleries searching for hidden images. Members of the club are invited to return to the Museum for the next adventure. All visiting youth are eligible for membership at no cost. To participate, the child, or the child’s guardian, fills out an information sheet at the front desk and receives a Club Passport. The Passport is marked each time they visit the Museum and completes a hunt as is the information sheet. One goal of Matt’s Explorers’ Club is to engage and entice children to enjoy and participate in their visit to the Museum. Sufficient opportunities to complete the required tours are offered during the course of one calendar year. Families are mailed notices of new exhibitions and children’s events.
