Your Classroom Visit

Booking Your Tour
All guided and self-guided tour groups must make advance reservations. To schedule a visit, please contact a Museum Educator by calling 607.734.3697 ext. 323 or by sending an email:programs@arnotartmuseum.org 
during regular Museum business hours: Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Reservations are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure you are able to visit on your preferred date, please schedule your visit at least 4 weeks in advance. A minimum of an hour’s visit is suggested with a two hour maximum.

When you contact a Museum Educator, please have the following information at the ready:

  • Name, Address and Phone Number of the visiting school or institution.
  • The Name(s) of attending Instructor(s)/Group Leader(s) and contact emails.
  • Tour Type (i.e. Sixth Grade Ancient Egyptian Art & Culture Tour).
  • Student Grade Level
  • Class Size is restricted to approximately 25 students. 
  • A minimum of 1 chaperone per maximum of 10 students is required; a class of 21 students requires 3 chaperones.
  • Preferred Date and Time (be prepared with two alternative dates).
  • Any special accommodations that are needed.

Admission Fees

Visit Confirmation
All groups will receive a written confirmation of their reserved tour slot within 10 days after finalizing their tour details. Please review this confirmation carefully and contact the Museum Educator immediately if there are changes that need to be made.

Payment
Payment for your tour is due by the date of your scheduled visit and can be made in the form of cash, check or credit card. Please provide an exact count of the attending children and adults in your group to the Guest Services Representative. Please note that the bill issued is based upon the number of guests that your tour was originally booked for; a change in attendance on the day of your tour will not result in a lowered fee.

Museum Rules & Etiquette
While you are visiting the Arnot Art Museum there are some rules and etiquette your t
our group should be aware of:

  • Touching the art objects is prohibited, this includes frames, furniture and cases.
  • Gum, candy, food and drinks are not allowed.
  • Pencils for sketching or note-taking are welcome, but no ink.
  • Large bags and backpacks cannot be taken into the galleries.  You may leave your bags in the coat closet or with Guest Services.
  • Please remain at least 12 inches away from the artworks.
  • Chaperones must remain with the tour group at all times.
  • Additional young children are not permitted.
  • Photography of the work on display is not allowed.  Educators may feel free to take photos of their class, but no reproduction shots are allowed.

Chaperones
For each group, a minimum of 1 chaperone per maximum of 10 students is required. Chaperones need to remain with their tour at all times and escort children to the restrooms. 

Arrival
Please arrive promptly for your scheduled tour. Group leaders should check-in and settle payment for the tour at the Guest Services desk. Groups that arrive late may receive an abbreviated tour and a group arriving more than 30 minutes late may not receive instruction or a tour.

Parking
Buses may drop students off at the front entrance of the Museum, then park either along Gray Street on the south side of the Museum or in the Museum parking lot at the rear of the building.

Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call the Museum Educator as soon as possible to ensure that other groups on the waiting list may be contacted. Groups that do not notify the Museum of a cancellation will be assessed a $25.00 fee.
